Ever
since I was a child, no one really appreciate me.
”Get lost !”,”I don’t need your help ,LOSER
!”. Those words kept lingering in my head. They always thought that I am a
burden and can’t do things right. It makes my heart hurts so much that sometimes
makes me want to punch them. But someone once said to me “No matter what others
might say about you, I will always trust in you,” Yes. She is my one and only
mother. She was the only person that could understand through my pain and
sorrow. She was the only person that I have in my life. My father died since I
am six, so my mother took care since then. My father didn’t leave us any wealth
since we were not really that rich. Our life were very moderate but we were
happy.
My school life was very
challenging. You can say it was a bit complicated. I don’t have any friends,
neither a lover. I am not that good looking nor intelligent, but my mother
always said that I am very good at sketching. But no one really noticed it.
Some of my schoolmates always bullies me and some might also mock my drawing.
But it never offended me.
One day,
“Hey kid! I want you
buy me some drinks. Use your own money” said Sean a senior at my school.
“But I don’’t have any
money,” I answered. The senior pissed off. The pulled me into a toilet and
punched me on the stomach and kept punching. At that time, I felt like
fainting. My eyes becoming blurred. Then, someone came.
“What are you kids
doing ?!”said Encik Rahman the discipline teacher.
“Sean, go to you class
now !”he ordered Sean. I felt relief and I fainted. Two boys came and carry me
to the hospital by Encik Rahman’s car.
At the hospital I heard
Encik Rahman was talking to someone through the phone.
“ He need to move to
another school. It’s not safe here for him since he only have you as his
mother” it was my mother! He said I have to move school?
“Why do I have to move
school? I like it here” I said.
“It’s not safe for you
to stay here” he replied “We cannot expel Sean because his father sponsored the
school in many of our events,” he continued. Yes, Sean’s father did sponsored a
lot for the school as he owned many company. I just kept quiet. I was told to
stay at the hospital for three days.
“RIIIIIINGGGGG !!!”
The school bell rang.
It was recess time. I sat by myself on a bench.
“Hey can is this seat
taken?” a beautiful and polite girl asked me.
“No, please have a
seat” I invited her”
“My name is Sakura” she
introduced herself followed by me. She was in the same age as I was and one of
the top ten students in our batch. It was the first time that a girl would talk
to me. I felt very happy. We talked and talked until the school bell rang.
“Oh, it’s time for
class. We have to move now. If you don’t mind, can we be best friends?” she
said to me. At that time my heart bloomed. I smiled brightly throughout the
whole day. My mother was very happy for me that I have a friend in my school.
Everyday, me and Sakura
would wait for each other to go recess together and walked home together. We
become best friends. One day, on our back home.
“Actually, today I want
to say something to you,” Sakura said to me. As she about to talked.
“Hey kid!” I turned my
back and a punched hit my face really hard. I fell to the ground.
“What’s wrong with you
Sean?!” Sakura shouted. “Sean? Why is he here? And how did Sakura know him?” I
was confused.
“Shut up Sakura! This
time this kid is done for,” Sean said. While I was still blurred for what had
happened, Sean kicked me in the stomach. He hit me non-stop until Sakura
stopped him.
“That’s enough Sean. I
don’t love you and I don’t love him.
We’re just friends. So please go home and leave us alone,” Sakura said to Sean.
“Love?” I whispered in my heart. Sean took his bag and left.
“Are you okay? Let me
take you to the hospital,” she said to me. I stood up and picked my bag.
“I’m fine, don’t
worry,” I said to her and left her. At home my mother was worried and she took
out the first aid and healed me. I never talked to Sakura since that day
On the school holidays,
I was in my room studying for the final exam. My mother came into my room and gave
me a letter. She said she don’t know who the sender was. I opened the letter
and read it. I was shocked . It was from Sakura! She said she was moving to
Sabah. I quickly get up from the seat and ran towards the door. When I opened
the door.
“Hi,” it was Sakura.
She came to my house to meet me for the last time. She was trying to tell me
about her move about every time she tried to reach me, I ran away. She told me
everything about her relationship with Sean and everything. We exchanged
stories till dawn. The it was time for her to go. Her father came to picked her
up.
“ I guess this is it
then. It was fun knowing you. I learned a lot from you, so thank you” she said
with the beautiful smile of hers. She looked very beautiful in the shine of the
dawn. By the time she walked towards the car, she said “ I love you,” with a
very slow voice. My heart bloomed. I waved and watched as the car moved further
and further away from me.
“Actually it is me who
earned a lot from you,” I said to myself. I walked home slowly.
At school, I tried to
be friendly with everyone. As time pass by everyone became my friends. As for
Sean, he was expelled because he bullied a junior until the student reported to
the police. My grades were also becoming much better and without noticing it I
passed SPM with flying colours. My teachers, my friends and more importantly my
mother were very proud of me.
“I’m sure your late
father will be very proud of you,” my mother said to me. I can’t really
expressed the feelings that I felt at that time.
I was offered to
continue my studies at Sabah. I felt very happy that after three years I can
finally meet Sakura again. But I felt a bit sad because I have to leave my
mother alone.
“Don’t worry about me,
just continue your studies and become a better person,” my mother said to me
before I took the flight. After two hours of flight, the first thing do after
my registration was visiting to Sakura’s house.
I rang the doorbell and
her mother came.
“Is Sakura home?” I
asked her. Instead of answering she invited me inside. She offered me some tea.
“Actually Sakura died
of cancer last year.” I was shocked. Her family moved to Sabah was actually to
get her a treatment but she died during the surgery. It was very heartbreaking
for me to heard the news. Her mother gave me Sakura’s diary.
I can’t stop crying
when I read it. Now I know that she loved me very much and I know that she
wanted me to fight for my dreams. “Why do she have to die in such a very young
age” I want to shout it but it was not me to decide her fate.
As I put her diary on
the table a piece of paper dropped. Something was written on it. It said
“DO YOUR BEST AND MAY
YOU FIND SOMEONE WHO WOULD LOVE YOU MORE THAT I DO,”
